Two weeks ago I posted the salaries and pensions of School District 156. As promised I am posting all of the McHenry County Board Members compensation in the same format I posted the school district. It is only fair. McHenry County has 24 board members broken into six districts of four members each, two of which are up for election every two years. We serve at the pleasure of the taxpayer and our terms are four years long. Below is the compensation for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015.
McHenry County Board Member Compensation
The numbers vary quite a bit. Our Chairman is Mr. Joe Gottemoller. Our chairman is compensated for the additional time he puts in at the county. Our Vice-Chairman is Ms. Yvonne Barnes.
Total Compensation to the McHenry County Board members is $952,351.23
Average Compensation to each McHenry County Board Member is $39,681.23
Average McHenry County Taxpayer funded pension to each Board Member is $2,143.36
Average McHenry County Taxpayer funded healthcare plan to each Board Member is $12,274.98
My Compensation
Several people brought up the issue of my salary, pension, and healthcare so I am singling my self out. It is only fair if I post information on other local governments you should see mine.
Total Compensation to County Board Member Andrew Gasser is $22,606.44 – the lowest of any county board member #justsayin
McHenry County Taxpayer funded pension to County Board Member Andrew Gasser is $0
McHenry County Taxpayer funded healthcare to County Board Member Andrew Gasser is $0
I am thankful for all of those who commented with tact and respect. I deleted all the profanity. I promised to post all of the McHenry County Board Compensation packages and I am. I am sorry Brian McSherry I didn’t do it as quickly as you liked but I wanted to get the data right. I want to thank Ralph Sarbaugh for working on this for me so quickly and diligently. Ralph does great work for the county and he doesn’t always get the credit he deserves.
On Duty
I promised to be your McHenry County Watchdog, and I am. That is why I am posting this data so you can decide what is enough and what is not enough and what is just too much.
When I ran for office in 2014 I made several promises to you. I promised I wouldn’t take the politician pension plan or the Cadillac healthcare plan. I also promised I would term limit myself to two (2) four year terms as a county board member in McHenry County. I will keep that promise too.
Things like integrity and loyalty are important to me. I am not here for the pension, healthcare, and money. I am representing you because I believe that McHenry County is a great place to live but it is quickly becoming out of reach for so many families. I also believe that we serve not because we want to be well liked – but because we all aspire to be a part of something bigger than just ourselves.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to be your representative on the McHenry County Board. It is a gratifying and humbling experience.
Thank you,
Andrew
